Motivation...

In this weeks blog I am just curious to what motivates you.  I know a lot of people are different and different things motivate different people.  So my questions for everyone are....What motivates you? Why do you think different things motivate different people?

The thing that motivates me the most is people doubting me or telling me I cannot do something.  I have been proving people wrong my whole life.  Growing up and a kid from a small town in Indiana no one gave me much credit and they said I could never play D-1 basketball.  The next challenge however is proving people wrong that I can play in the NBA.  With a lot of work and some good coaching I think I will be able to make my ultimate dream come true.  Success is something that motivates me too, but doubters really fuel the fire for me.

I think a lot of people are motivated by money due to the economic standing we are in.  I am a firm believer that money does not bring happiness.  Some of the richest people in the world are not even close to happy.

Anyone have good responses Id love to hear them.

  1. I am motivated by the people who give me opportunities and those that don't have those opportunities. I'm mostly talking about my parents, who sacrifice so much to help me follow my dreams, and God who allows me to do anything. And for those who don't have the opportunities: I refuse to take opportunities for granted when I am blessed with one.

Also, those who have gone before me to set good examples. You've been a big role model for me as I watched your games and the example you set as a leader with amazing work ethic. Your story and and your relentless efforts to chase your dreams are inspiring.

  2. "It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on Earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had."

    CK-Superman,
Keep pushing family; if your haters/doubters are your biggest motivators, I challenge you to re-channel the energy you get from their words, into the energy you bring with you onto the court. BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAM! Let your biggest doubters serve their purpose; there will be an opportunity in the future to thank them for the MOTIVATION you received from their doubts and an opportunity to smile at them when you see you dream become your reality! Never forget you do have a lot people like myself, who are still in your corner; quietly rooting for your success from a far!

  3. You are motivated by the game, motivated by the pure love of the game. hard work towards your goal, no matter what adversity, hard work leads to success which is a true motivator. You and Jeff have a great deal in common. I see it in you as I saw it in him. Take care and heal fast.

  4. You motivate our son, A.J., to be the best basketball player and person he can be. He started watching you when he was 4 and then for his 5th birthday party he had the "Chris Kramer" Birthday Party. He continues to act out plays, passes, and shots that you make in games. I feel so blessed for the interest your mom has taken in A.J.! I am motivated to be a better mother by her! Thank you for being a great example for him on and off the court!! A.J. is giong to have his Birthday Bash with the Mad Ants in March. We had to move the original date but he is so excited to see you in person. The energy and heart you play with makes him believe that if he plays hard he will achieve his goals too. As a mother I can't thank you enough for giving him that drive to achieve!!
